This is a very informative and helpful report. Thank you, Melissa, for illuminating a very ugly situation.

How will Pete Hegseth resist an excuse to invade Mexico when all that military might is just sitting there not doing anything? Stay tuned to Signal.

This doesn't bode well. Watch that militarized zone extend 100 miles into the interior, just like Customs and Border Protection enforcement does already.

Project 2025 figures in here. Turn the court system on its head and reinterpret laws to create its new world order.

Mexico may have to start aggressively protecting its rights. Just like everyone these days, seems like.

You're right. It doesn't bode well. And we are only four months into four years. Yikes.

I assumed that the way they can do the incursion into the USA interior is practically pre-determined by existing lines on the map. When they formally militarize the Roosevelt Reservation in eastern Arizona, it won’t take them much heavy lifting or deep thought to just confiscate a wide swath of land from the border to Fort Huachuca. It’s practically all BLM or National Forest land, and since a border emergency has already been declared, this territory can apparently be transferred to the Defense Department on a whim and an executive order. Thus, a huge swath of ecologically sensitive public land can be magically transformed into an off-limits military reserve for the next 3 or 4 years. Watch your Signal chat feeds: Hegseth may inadvertently confirm details in advance.

It's "kind of important" to note that the Roosevelt Reservation was created only in California, Arizona and New Mexico. Texas was specifically excluded. So enforcement of that is clearly illegal. Anyone surprised?

Thanks for your comment Steve. I think the administration is willing to militarize whatever land is already controlled by the federal government at the border, like the IBWC land. In Texas there is very little federal land, as you noted, so it's going to be challenging. The Trump administration said it will carve out tribal nations and private property from the national defense areas.

This is just another impeachable offense for Trump in 2026 assuming the biennial election isn't canceled, stolen, or postponed from Trumped up reasons.

Hi Melissa, we republished your interesting article on Havana Times both in English and our Spanish translation.

Is this where I should be writing you or is there an email like Todd has.

Best regards, Circles
