This cruel treatment isnt new - my gosh, the Chinese, the Irish, the Italians, all suffered much of this type of "otherism". And then there was the Japanese-American concentration camps.
Which pretty much every "powerful" country did to their indigenous people - well, still! Actually, THAT issue now includes what the Israelis AND US are doing to the Palestinian people - who, I might add, are THEIR indigenous people. After all, just because the US & Britain said it wasnt so, doesnt make it not so. (1948).
A lot of people seem to believe that the draconian ICE tactics are necessary because there are too many millions of people with illegal slien status flooding social welfare systems in the US. I do not see that this is true. I think this is very hyped beyond reasonable proportion. I know the basics are so basic that you may feel it a waste of time to address them. But to me, the assumptions many have about any part of this are just completely wrong. The reason is that the media normally just pays no attention to what is real and favors quoting the hype. Correcting that will take a lot of attention for what is true as opposed to what is not and going back through about a century of history. Why is this happening? It also involves what the big banks have been doing.
Thanks for your comment, Stuart. Yeah we kind of addressed that same question in the podcast--how entrenched some assumptions and (false) narratives are and how necessary it is to peel them back.
My sense is that there is such a deficit of fact-based understanding that no amount of filling in the gaps could actually ever be enough. Put as much stress on it and repeat as often as possible.

Kind of just segues on, doesnt it?
Sorry, ranting on with absolutely NO solutions.
So yeah I consider this whole "Icecapade" wrong.
Thanks Maggie. Sometimes it helps to just rant about! Really something's gotta give, sometime...
