I’ve never thought of this as a war, but your point is right on target. We seem to be at war with the world right now. Our current regime is declaring war on our own population inside our own territories.

Sadly, as should be blazingly obvious by now, peacemaking as a means towards the end of border justice is hopelessly ineffective. Appealing to the consciences of border security staff or the politicians who control them is a complete waste of resources. What has changed in many decades of liberal peacemaking, apart from the constant increase in spending on security and consequent deaths of migrants?

This is a problem caused by the imperialist USA and solutions come from one source: the international working class acting in solidarity to defeat that system.

This piece isn't about appealing to the consciences of border security staff or any politicians.

A big "Amen" to what you have written, Todd. Thank you for the beautiful "prayer" near the end, calling for an end to the nightmare of "border security" in favor of an expansive security for all. Yes, let us bring on the peacemakers. May we become them.
