Great episode with Erika, as always. As I detail in Crossing the Line, the Democratic party has been cueing up the cruelty of the Border Industrial Complex for decades. Trump & Co 1.0's cruelty looked extreme because it was done for the cameras. But the cruelty was not theirs alone. It's been a bipartisan project for multiple administrations and Biden-Harris did not throw up any guardrails; they did little to mitigate the shitstorm of cruelty soon to come. They just kept going right, as did their Democratic predecessors. I agree with Erika -- as against the hopeful "oh he'll never be able to pull it off" narrative of the mainstream media: we DO have the infrastructure to execute a mass deportation campaign, all of which Dems helped to build. Trump 1.0 harnessed it when they were just practicing. They stood up concentration camps. They executed mass deportations throughout 2020. Trump 2.0 will not be practicing and they have the confidence of popular support. It's tragic.

Went to an exhibit recently here in Tucson called COMPLEX... made me wonder if these "holding" centers would be yet another kind of longer term concentration camps/incarceration... where enslaved people would be required to work for free... in Arizona, and other places in the u s...expanding the business of mass incarceration, this was an exhibit of some(39) of the private detention centers /prisons built/ being built for "housing" migrants, hoping for asylum, at around $160 per day Each and holding places.
