Dr. Tenorio is scheduled to testify at the 7-18- 2023 House Homeland Security “Opening the Flood Gates: Biden’s Broken Border Barrier”. From his prepared testimony on HS website: "Conclusion

Ultimately, these raised border walls have resulted in a record number of traumatic injuries,

increased severity and mortality, and increased economic burden to our hospital systems.

As a neurosurgeon, I must reveal this untold human suffering and strain on financially strapped

hospital systems to our nation. I fear this trend will only get worse without any current system in

place to analyze the full extent of the humanitarian and economic costs of border infrastructure

policies to help determine sensible alternative solutions.

Thank you to both Subcommittees for inviting me to testify today, and I hope the Subcommittees

do all within their power to recognize the harms of the border wall on human lives and our

hospital systems.

Respectfully submitted by:

Dr. Alexander Tenorio, MD"

I suppose that those particularly conscience-free American people who ordered, paid for and built this wall would argue that anyone foolish enough to climb it deserves no sympathy. As they argue to support all the US empire's crimes against the poor of the world. Pointing out to American fascists the horrific consequences of this wall only delights them more. Better arguments and evidence are only of use to those already on the Left and have no positive effect on fascists who are, generally, of a psychopathic mindset. Ending this wall requires changing the power systems of the USA. You know: revolutionary socialism of the working class. NGOs don't take part in that.

I very much doubt there is revolutionary potential in the working classes of America. I dont see how a working class american who has a house, two vehicles and big TV screens would give up his priviledges and change the system. I dont know if I am pessimist, but I only see global northern countries becoming more reactionary over time.

Which is what many liberals have always said, since the 19th century at least. The role of all socialists is, as ever, to raise the awareness (the consciousness) of the working class to their own interests and their unity across all the divisions that the ruling class - through the corporate media - keep trying to impose on us. Identity politics is its latest trick. I'm transgender but I still have my working class status at the forefront of my mind, giving me common cause with all working class people everywhere, whatever their gender, their skin colour, their religion or any other identity.

Indeed, the only reason I don't necessarily think fascists will come to this comment section to defend their perverse sense of glee is that our editors have thoughtfully chosen a headline that emphasizes the health consequences, rather than the image of the wall causing injury.

This is an important part of why I am subscribed to this blog, though. The "wall" seems to me like a kind of MAGA collectivism, the purpose that Manifest Destiny served in past centuries. The human consequences of the idealized border are likely to get worse and need to be called out.

I just don't get it. After years of being an American, I can't stand this border problem that JB says he can fix in one day if the GOP would just give him enough money. He has the authority today, same as when he signed the executive order to rscind ALL Tump's regulations and policies regarding The Border. So, why doesn't he do that, today?
