This interview with Alejandra Spector was shared on KURU - Gila Mimbres Community Radio. On a personal note, Alejandra's perspective and experience helped me, recently, to respond to a person I encountered while doing volunteer medical work at an asylum shelter. This is not easy work. Thank you Alejandra and Melissa.

I love Alejandra's comments toward the end about having and maintaining hope despite everything going on, and the value in focusing on helping one person, one family, one community and in doing so setting an example for "what can be done." Thank you for this interview, and hats off to Alejandra and her parents.

Thank you for listening Jim and for your thoughtful comment. This is my favorite part of our conversation. Not getting discouraged and focusing on what you can do individually is so important to long term humanitarian and social justice work. It's a marathon and not a sprint. Especially these days.
