The problem is the left wing, pro-raza, "Send the Gringo Back to Plymouth Rock," Mexican flag waving community led by Isabel Garcia, didn't pause to consider that decades of identity politics and support for Aztlan would result in a corresponding rise of white supremacy and nationalism.

I tried to bring this to their attention between 2006-2016. Unfortunately, the local community branded me as a racist and a lunatic, and Garcia's followers used the police to stop debate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cX9t3iB-rY&ab_channel=RoyWarden

Wait, I don't think there was enough time between when this interview was posted and your comment for you to have actually listened. Did you? Strickland does a nice deep dive into the background of the militias.

I DETEST Militias and I plead "guilty" to responding without first viewing the video. But, as a sixties era Berkeley political activist, I have long feared for what is now happening; the rise of nationalism and resurrection of white supremacy. I WILL view the video and post comment!

I listened to the interview and ordered the book. But I wonder: Will the public ever listen to a rational, non partisan, fact based, historically accurate discussion on Arizona-Mexican Border issues? It's WHY I'm writing "Ground Zero: How Arizona Created the Crisis on the Border" (c) 2021 Roy Warden

Are you the guy who she got the order of protection against? The one who actually made tee shirts with her face on them?

Yes, but there is a lot MORE to the story

Todd Miller: I listened to the interview and will order the book on Amazon. But I'm wondering: will the public EVER entertain a non-partisan, fact based discussion on the border? It's WHY I'm writing "Ground Zero: How Arizona Created the Crisis on the Border." (c) 2021 Roy Warden

I thought it was excellent - but I'm personally vested and very biased. Can't wait to read the book.

I'm NOT a writer, nor am I a journalist, but still, I have a story to tell. So I'm struggling with the book!!

I'm sure you'll get your story out.

There is a part of this interview (12:30) when del Bosque and Strickland discuss the flawed personalities of some of the militia followers who, fleeing problems, seek to redeem, transform and reinvent themselves. All true! I have much to share on this subject. In the sixties I read "True Believer" by Eric Hoffer, who explains HOW and WHY many people become involved in mass movements. In fact many of the early founders of Arizona itself were losers on the run. Google Coles Bashford (disgraced former Governor of Wisconsin, accused of receiving bribes and engaging in voter fraud), gets “transformed” and "reinvented", and appointed as Arizona’s first Attorney General. He is later elected president of the Council Territorial Government.
