Mexico Says Construction on Three Dams in Sonora Will Begin in July. Locals are Concerned.

According to residents, officials have not produced an environmental impact statement, structural plans, or a cost-benefit analysis, nor have they consulted affected communities, as required by law.

Ismael Limón is an ejidatario, or a member of a ranching collective, in Molino de Camou, Sonora, a town on the banks of the Río Sonora northeast of the city of Hermosillo. “We are small cattle raisers, with between five and 15 cows,” he said.
