Happy Friday! The Border Chronicle kicked off its first-ever Spring fundraiser last week as part of a new national initiative called Local News Day, to make the case for quality, community-based journalism. Since we launched in 2021, Melissa and I have had the goal of reaching at least 2,000 paid subscribers. This would cover the salaries for two reporters. We're currently at approximately 1,200 paid subscribers, so if 800 of our readers were to sign up for an annual subscription today at the affordable rate of $59 a year, we could become sustainable, and make a living wage. So now there's two ways to give, either through donating or (preferably) subscribing.
Also, new merch alert! For anyone who signs up today for $59 a year we'll send you a brand new Border Chronicle tote bag, in black or cream color. (Alien six-pack abs not included). For anyone upgrading their subscription to sustaining founder at $250 annual, we'll send you one of our brand new Border Chronicle hats in black (trucker style) or khaki green and a tote bag! Keep the sun out of your eyes and look cool at the same time!
