Typically as summer begins, our paid subscriptions start to decline just as events are heating up in the borderlands. Right now, border wall and floating buoy barriers are being installed at a rapid pace, in many cases without consent of the communities, and with federal laws waived to speed the destruction. There's also SpaceX encroaching further on environmentally sensitive coastal land, detention warehouses and data centers. We'd like to dig into these issues and more, but investigative journalism takes time and resources.

In March, thanks to our paid subscribers, we were able to do a border-wide investigation on the impacts of the military taking over more than 40 percent of the border, and expose in February how the DEA and CBP are building a hidden network of surveillance at the Arizona-Mexico border.

Help us do more investigations like these. Support our investigative journalism today with a paid subscription for just $6 a month or $59 a year. You can also support our work with a one-time donation. Any little bit helps!
