In 25 years of covering the U.S.-Mexico border, I’ve never seen so much destruction. The Trump administration is dynamiting sacred places, installing miles of massive buoys on the Rio Grande and seizing private land. All of this is happening with almost no communication with border residents or local officials. As the only independent border-wide publication in the nation, we are reporting on this rapid transformation up and down the border, and documenting the devastating impacts on the environment, wildlife and the binational border community.
But we’re a small publication with just three reporters. And it’s a mighty task to not just document the wall construction, but also immigration, climate change and the rapidly growing militarization in our communities. This is why we are asking for your help today. We are a reader-supported publication and rely on our paid subscribers to do this important work of reporting in the field, researching and documenting.
Unfortunately, we’ve had a recent decline in paid subscriptions, which means we can’t do this important work without your support. If you are able, please consider becoming an annual subscriber to The Border Chronicle today for just $59 a year, or even better sustain our reporting year-round as a Founding Member for $250 a year.
For anyone who upgrades to a paid subscription by Friday the 15th, we will add a free tote bag for $59 annual subscriptions, and a baseball cap and tote bag for the sustaining Founding Member tier of $250 a year.

These paid subscriptions help us fund our reporting and hire more freelancers to cover more territory. If you’re unable to upgrade to a paid subscription, please consider sharing The Border Chronicle with friends and family. With the advent of AI and social media platforms now suppressing fact-based journalism, word of mouth is our most powerful tool for expanding our reach and readership.
We thank you for reading and supporting The Border Chronicle. Without you we wouldn’t exist!
Un abrazo desde Tucson,
